We are now part of the
HCF ‘More For Muscles’
Program
The ‘More For Muscles’ program allows for HCF members with Extras Cover to be offered ONE fully covered initial physiotherapy assessment PER CALENDAR YEAR. This means you are not out of pocket for your first physiotherapy consultation!
How am I eligible for the ‘More for Muscles’ program?
You are a HCF member, with Extras cover on your health insurance
You have not claimed under the item code 500 in this calendar year, as you are only eligible for one per calendar year, regardless of whether you have seen multiple physiotherapists
You are seeking management for a new injury or condition that you have not previously sought management for in the past OR
You have experienced an acute flare up or recurrence of a pre-existing condition that you have not sought management for in the past 3 months.
What to expect in a physiotherapy consult:
The initial consult, which is for a new injury, will last at least 45 minutes. This allows for a thorough assessment, involving a conversation about the injury, that then guides a series of specific tests and movements that is able to provide a diagnosis of the injury.
The session will also consist of time for treatment to be offered, whether it be in the form of massage, joint mobilisation, dry needling or any style of hands on work that will offer pain relief and improvement in mobility.
Once a diagnosis and treatment has been established, a management plan specific to your needs will be developed, which will include advice, goal setting and exercises to go home with to improve your mobility and strength.
Follow up appointments can range from 30-45 minutes, and will usually allow time for re-assessment, treatment as needed and modification of the management plan or exercises that allow you to get closer to being pain free and back to doing what you love!
