Women’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Supporting women through all stages of life with their pelvic health, whether it be limiting your athletic potential, impacting your function throughout pregnancy and childbirth or when menopause comes into play.

Women’s and Pelvic Health physiotherapy covers all concerns that may be as a result of pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles that provide support to the organs that sit within the pelvis, and is crucial in bladder and bowel control. There are many reasons, such as childbirth trauma, pelvic and gynaecological surgery or menopause, that can compromise the quality of these muscles. This can lead issues including pelvic pain with intercourse, bladder and bowel dysfunction and/or pelvic organ prolapse.

Many clients are likely unsure of how to proceed with improving pelvic health function and without the post-graduate training that pelvic health physiotherapists have, it can be likely that clients will be provided generic or incorrect advice on pelvic floor exercises or management.

A pelvic health physiotherapist can provide a thorough assessment of the pelvic floor that can then be created into a specific treatment plan to get your pelvic health to it’s optimal condition!
